Anchor Institution

Anchor Institution and Talent Development Program

The Anchor Institution is one of 20 strategic initiatives to advance the goals and objectives of the Georgia Tech Strategic Plan. These initiatives are highly interdependent and are aligned within and across the strategic plan's six focus areas.

The Anchor Institution is about engaging with communities and organizations near campus and abroad to support social and economic mobility by advancing the public interest through partnerships for education, knowledge production, community engagement, economic development, and strategic management of our operations and physical spaces.

The Talent Development Program at Georgia Tech is a multi-year initiative that supports Anchor Institution and the Institute's strategic plan. The Talent Development Program aligns with the following CEISMC goals:

  • engaging and accelerating PreK-12 students through high-quality in-school and extracurricular STEM experiences to expose them to leading-edge research and 21st century STEM careers;
  • cultivating sustained PreK-12 school and community partnerships to develop model sites in STEM and offering intensive, innovative professional development to practicing teachers; and
  • conducting research on effective STEM education practices which include creating opportunities for the Georgia Tech community to engage and serve PreK-12 students, teachers, and the community-at-large.

Recruitment for establishing the Talent Development Program took place through a Summer Bridge Program that occurred on the Georgia Tech campus in June 2023. Read more about the pilot year here.
