Heidi Turcotte is the newly appointed Program Director of Georgia Intern-Fellowships for Teachers (GIFT) and also serves as CEISMC’s Program Director of Campus and Community Coordination at Georgia Tech. In this role, she collaborates with Georgia Tech faculty to support broader impact and outreach initiatives for K-12 programs, helping to expand STEM opportunities across the community.
Heidi holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Edinboro University and a Master's in Biology from Miami University, where she conducted field studies in Baja, Belize, and Costa Rica. These experiences enriched her expertise in participatory education, community-based conservation, ecology, and field methods.
With over 18 years of teaching experience and active involvement in scientific research, Heidi is a passionate advocate for conservation awareness. She believes that hands-on, experiential learning is essential for deepening students' understanding of the natural world. Her mission is to create impactful STEM opportunities that unite communities, empowering the next generation to be more knowledgeable and engaged stewards of our environment.
